Rivas has announced that he is going to open plots of the Soto del Grillo agroecological park so that entrepreneurs in the organic farming sector can test their projects before starting an activity on their own. The initiative will offer temporary access to land, infrastructure, training and professional advice to verify the technical and economic viability of the proposals.
The project, called ConSotowill allow the creation of agricultural test spaces in which participants will be able to experiment with their production models during a certain period. The objective is to facilitate gain practical experience, develop their skills and can subsequently start their own businesses farms autonomously.
Besides, ConSoto seeks to promote generational change in the agroecological park by incorporating new producers. He Soto del Grillo It was the first agroecological park of its kind promoted by a city council in Spain, in 2012.

A plan to strengthen the park’s biodiversity
The ConSoto project also includes the design and implementation of an Agroecological Infrastructure Plan to improve the biodiversity and adaptation capacity of the park. The proposal will address the plots as part of a connected ecosystem, by incorporating vegetation and refuge spaces for fauna beneficial to crops.
Among the planned measures are the planting hedges on the perimeters and between the plots, with species adapted to the environment, and the creation of areas with flowers intended to attract pollinators and auxiliary fauna.
The plan also includes the installation of elements to encourage the presence of different speciessuch as nest boxes, bat shelters, insect hotels and posts for birds of prey, as well as other structures intended for shelter and nesting.
These actions aim to improve the connection between natural spaces, promote pollination and natural pest control, protect the soil and diversify the vegetation of the agroecological park.
