A long three weeks ago in Week 4, we were blessed with six ranked-vs-ranked matchups on one Saturday — the first time that has happened since Dec. 1, 2023. Well, we won’t have to wait three years again for the same appetizing Saturday buffet.
Just 21 days later, we have six more.
Here are the top storylines we’re watching on a jam-packed Week 7 Saturday.
No. 4 Indiana vs. No. 5 Ohio State in Big Ten Championship rematch
Before Dec. 6, 2025, Indiana had lost 30 consecutive games to Ohio State, last defeating the Buckeyes in 1988. Fast forward 10 months, the Hoosiers are the reining Big Ten and national champions and have not lost a football game since Dec. 20, 2024 — 22 straight games.
Curt Cignetti’s squad was tested for the first time last week, squeezing out a 20-17 comeback win at Nebraska — the Hoosiers tightest margin of victory since its 13-10 win over Ohio State last season.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes have been rolling since its Week 2 loss to Texas, led by Heisman frontrunner Jeremiah Smith who seems to set a new record every week.
But more is on the line for Ryan Day’s squad who looks to avoid taking it’s second loss before November for the first time in the College Football Playoff era. Win or lose, the Hoosiers are already in a prime position for another CFP berth with only one ranked team remaining on their schedule.
QB room reunites in No. 9 Ole Miss vs. No. 13 Missouri
In what is likely the most pivotal matchup in the SEC today, No. 13 Missouri takes on No. 9 Ole Miss as Tigers’ quarterback Austin Simmons returns to Oxford for the first time since transferring this offseason.
In case you don’t remember, Simmons was the Week 1 starter for Lane Kiffin’s squad last season at Ole Miss, before an injury sidelined him, opening the door for Trinidad Chambliss to command the Rebel offense. Kiffin liked what he saw from the DII Ferris State transfer in Chambliss, and Simmons never regained his starting job.
Well now, Simmons is in Columbia with 14 touchdowns and just one interception, coming off huge wins against then-No. 8 Florida and Texas A&M.
Both teams would love to walk out of Week 7 with a win, each still set to play No. 1 Georgia and No. 7 Texas down the road. Should be a must-watch in the afternoon window at 3:30 p.m. ET.
College GameDay heads to No. 2 Notre Dame at No. 8 BYU
For just the second time ever, the GameDay crew is in Provo, Utah for the top-10 showdown between Notre Dame and BYU.
Neither team has really been challenged this season, each yet to play a ranked team. After today, the Cougars only have one ranked team left on their schedule in No. 11 Utah, so a win over No. 2 should put BYU’s first CFP berth well in sight.
As for the Irish, they still have a Nov. 7 showdown with No. 3 Miami slated, so entering that unblemished would take some weight off Marcus Freeman’s shoulders as Notre Dame looks to bounce back from missing the CFP last season.
We have a lot of football to get through before the 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff in Utah, but this matchup of undefeateds could be the biggest game of the day.
