My social media feed is filled with photos and videos from the 40th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention in Los Angeles. Even one of my diecast dealers is there for the show. I already spotted several exciting models for 2026, including the next Elite 64 hauler!

But there’s no word yet on what this event’s Finale Car will be. We will probably know within the next 24 hours, and I’ll be sure to return with some photos and info when that happens. Until then, several of the Convention’s Pink Party cars have already made their way onto eBay.

It was all about American Muscle cars in both 2024 and 2025, but 2026 has been kind to JDM enthusiasts. We saw the 1972 Skyline H/T 2000GT-R coming out in April for the 26th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Nationals in Dallas, Texas.

And now anyone who is in Los Angeles for the Convention can buy the 1993 Mazda RX-7 R1. If you couldn’t make it to the show, you can still get this collectible from Mattel Creations directly as that’s standard practice for the manufacturer.

Brendon Vetuskey’s R1 replica debuted in 2024 as an RLC Exclusive creation sporting a Spectraflame Red finish and 5-Spoke Modern Real Riders wheels. For 2025, Mattel switched to a Spectraflame Steel Blue paint job and 10-Spoke wheels, and I almost bought one for my RX-7-themed unboxing last year.

Now, pink RX-7s are quite rare as far as I know, although one my favorite drift-spec machines (Brad Hacker’s Dragon Performance monster) used that color scheme over a decade ago. The front lip and rear diffuser are painted white for some contrast. You’ll find a mix of pink and black under the hood, while the license plate reads “PRT N PNK”.

These days I just think Phil Riehlman’s ’95 Mazda RX-7 Drift is a bit more exciting. Dwayne Vance’s Mazda RX-7 (1:50) from back in 2004 was even better apart from maybe the questionable stance it displayed.

As a hardcore RX-7 enthusiastic, I’d rather turn to other premium options on the market coming from Tarmac Works, Pop Race and Mini GT as those brands have developed RE Amemiya versions of the car. I realize Mattel also has the Mazda RX-7 Liberty Walk but that’s not the style I’m looking for.

I’m sure someone in El Segundo has brought this discussion up already, and we might see some new FD (and hopefully FB) castings coming out in 2027 or 2028. Anyway, you can get the pink RX-7 on eBay for roughly $60 today, but you can also wait until October 13 at 9 AM PT when it goes live on Mattel Creations for $30 before taxes. With a limit of two items per customer and an undisclosed production run, you don’t have to worry about not being able to buy one.
