Details: Zelenskyy’s comments came after media reports indicated that representatives from the US, Ukraine and Russia may meet in October in Abu Dhabi to discuss the possibility of a partial ceasefire – a mutual agreement to refrain from strikes on energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy was asked to comment on this potential opportunity.

Quote: “I cannot [share] all the details. Yesterday, for example, I spoke with the negotiation team, the American team. The American side is currently in contact with Ukraine and Russia and is proposing that a meeting be held in some form at the technical level in a trilateral format by the end of October.”

Details: Zelenskyy noted that he confirmed on 3 October that Ukraine is willing to take part in such a meeting before the end of October.

Quote: “There is no new information here. We are open to [meeting in] the United Arab Emirates or another country proposed by the American side. I know they will propose this to the Russian side as well, or perhaps they already have – I don’t know the exact order of actions. So we will wait for their response.”

Background:

  • Türkiye and the United Nations are reported to be arranging new talks between Russia and Ukraine to discuss a Black Sea ceasefire in an attempt to bring together scattered efforts to protect grain shipments amid soaring global food prices.

  • As European Pravda previously reported, US President Donald Trump said he had asked Zelenskyy to slow down the pace of strikes on Russian oil refineries and claimed that Zelenskyy had agreed.

  • Zelenskyy stated earlier that during his private meeting with the US president there had been no attempts to force Ukraine to cease attacks on oil refineries and similar facilities.

  • US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would try to secure an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, although he acknowledged that it would be difficult.
