Sidelined from the playing fields for a long period due to an injury to his right knee, Xavi Simons has enrolled in Harvard Business School’s Crossover Into Business online program. The Tottenham player explained in a publication that the course helps professional athletes develop management skills alongside HBS MBA students.
At the end of April he suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and remains in rehabilitation. The Dutch international, who has made 34 appearances for his national team and scored six goals, wants to continue learning and improving off the field.
In a message posted Thursday on LinkedIn, the 23-year-old soccer player explained that he had traveled to the United States in recent weeks as part of his studies.
He has long had interests beyond football and recently met at Harvard with professor Anita Elberse, with whom he has maintained contact on several occasions since the beginning of his career.
He also seeks to better understand the business side of sport, learn alongside professionals from different sectors and continue his personal development. Even so, his priority remains getting back on the field.
