ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – The Western Virginia Regional Industrial Facility Authority (WVRIFA) confirmed Friday that Google is evaluating Wood Haven Technology Park as a possible location for a new data center.
“Google has more than 20 years of experience responsibly building data centers and is proud of the relationships we’ve built in the Roanoke community since announcing our data center project in Botetourt County. We are committed to growing this collaboration as a long-term partner in the Roanoke Region,” said Clay Allsop, regional public affairs manager for Google. “We will continue our due diligence process on Wood Haven and keep the local community updated as more information is available.”
The due diligence and inspection period at the Wood Haven site is underway and is expected to continue through March 2027.
“We are proud to partner with Google to support jobs, strengthen the regional tax base, and fund community investment,” said John Hull, executive director of WVRIFA. “This is an exciting project that has the potential to bring additional, transformative investment to the entire region.”
WVRIFA and Google say they will provide updates as the evaluation process moves forward.
