The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at boosting the expansion, competitive strength and worldwide representation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Travel & Tourism industry.
This alliance merges WTTC’s sector knowledge, economic analysis and industry data with ICC’s worldwide business network, which encompasses over 45 million firms in more than 170 nations.
The two bodies will offer SMEs hands-on advice, studies, instruments, linkages and prospects designed to foster commercial expansion and competitive strength.
Globally, SMEs represent over 85% of Travel & Tourism enterprises and are vital to employment generation, entrepreneurial activity, innovation and local economic progress.
Nevertheless, numerous such businesses encounter major hurdles, such as disjointed rules, lack of skilled workers, insufficient funding and market reach, digital obstacles, connectivity problems, visa stipulations and other travel-linked impediments.
As part of the arrangement, WTTC and ICC will pinpoint these impediments and push for measures that foster a more enabling commercial climate.
Their joint efforts will encompass exchanging studies and commercial data, involving enterprises via ICC’s worldwide network, and assembling leaders from both public and private spheres.
The alliance will additionally furnish SMEs with hands-on instruments and knowledge while bolstering proof for decision-makers and aiding the creation of focused policy suggestions.
By integrating SME viewpoints into worldwide studies and advocacy, WTTC and ICC seek to guarantee that domestic and global policies more accurately mirror the requirements of enterprises propelling the industry’s economic and social advantages.
Preliminary cooperation domains will encompass studies, commercial involvement, policy formulation, knowledge exchange and linking Travel & Tourism enterprises with broader global business networks.
The bodies will also press governments to lessen regulatory, monetary, digital and mobility impediments to bolster employment, funding and enduring economic expansion globally.
Gloria Guevara, President & CEO of WTTC, remarked that Travel & Tourism is driven by countless enterprises worldwide, with SMEs central to the industry. She stated that they generate employment, spur innovation and guarantee that tourism’s advantages reach local populations. She further noted that merging WTTC’s comprehension of Travel & Tourism with ICC’s vast global footprint enables taking business proof straight to governments and collaborating with decision-makers to eliminate impediments, enhance competitive strength and unlock more funding and jobs.
John Denton, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, commented that Travel and Tourism ranks among the world’s most interconnected sectors, daily linking individuals, enterprises and markets across boundaries. He pointed out that amid economic unpredictability, improving the operational climate for the millions of small enterprises fuelling this industry is both an economic and strategic necessity. Via this alliance, he said, ICC and WTTC will unite the worldwide business community to bolster entrepreneurial activity, broaden chances, and guarantee that expansion in travel and tourism yields advantages across economies and societies globally.
