An 84-year-old woman died Friday afternoon after her vehicle plunged five stories from a parking structure at a condominium complex at 1088 Bishop St. in downtown Honolulu, police said.
At about 2:28 p.m., the woman was driving north on the structure’s fifth floor and crashed through a retaining wall, causing her vehicle to fall onto a South Hotel sidewalk, according to the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division. The car landed on its roof next to a bus stop.
The woman, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services personnel.
Police said it is unknown whether speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
