The Wisconsin Badgers pulled off a shocker this summer when they flipped 2027 four-star defensive back Mekhi Williams from the Florida State Seminoles in June during official visits.
Williams, a top-125 player in the 2027 class from the state of Florida, had been courted by many of the top programs in the country. He had over two dozen offers, including from Alabama, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Miami, Colorado, and more.
He had been committed to Florida State since March, but the Badgers got him onto campus during the first week of official visits and were able to flip the cornerback, making him their highest-rated recruit in the 2027 class.
Naturally, for a player so talented, there will be continued interest up until signing day. In Williams’s case, that has come from both Alabama and Florida State, who are pushing hard to flip the four-star, per On3’s Evan Flood.
But Williams remains unfazed and is “more than likely” to stay with the Badgers through the early signing period after committing back in June. Williams was on campus for Wisconsin’s blowout win over Michigan State, and now plans to return to Madison for their game against the USC Trojans later this month.
So far, he’s been locked in with the Badgers and is a vital part of their 2027 class, which has been a top-25 group in the country.
