YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board recently expanded its team with the addition of licensed social worker Rachel Wagner.

Wagner, who has a background in both social work and criminal justice, joined the board as its new justice system behavioral health navigator and will act as the primary liaison between jail staff, court personnel and community providers to coordinate care for individuals with mental health needs in the legal system.

Wagner earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Youngstown State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Cleveland State University.

She previously worked at Belmont Pines and served as a bailiff at the Youngstown Municipal Court under Judge Carla Baldwin and as an intake officer at the Juvenile Justice Center.

“Rachel’s background in social work and criminal justice gives her a unique and invaluable perspective as she helps connect individuals with the care and resources available in our community,” said Duane Piccirilli, executive director of the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board. “We’re thrilled to welcome her to the board.”
