WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD-TV News) — USDA is continuing its technology upgrades with plans to modernize its loan services.

In an exclusive interview with RFD-TV News, Deputy Agriculture Secretary Stephen Vaden said borrowers currently have to call or visit a USDA office to get information about their loans.

“Now, that would be fine if this was 1985, but it’s not, and everyone else deals with their bank through the computer. Thanks to an IT modernization effort when it comes to loans through USDA, our customers, the American taxpayer, will soon be able to do the same thanks to a vendor that serves many of the banks that our USDA constituents use every day.”

Vaden added that the broader modernization effort will eventually reach every part of USDA.
