Vernon Parish fugitive Amarion Davis was taken into custody Thursday afternoon, ending a four-day manhunt for the alleged killer.
According to Sheriff Sam Craft, Davis, 19, turned himself in to detectives at the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Davis was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, criminal conspiracy, and second-degree murder. As of Friday, he remains in the VPSO Jail with no bond set.
A manhunt for Davis and his accomplice, Khamarre Carthan, 20, began late Sunday night after deputies responded to reports of a shooting at Jeane Chapel Trailer Park in Leesville. Deputies arrived at the scene and located victim Jackson Malone, 20, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Malone succumbed to his injuries at approximately 4 a.m. Monday.
During the investigation, Davis and Khamarre Carthan, 20, were identified as the shooters, and warrants were issued for their arrest.
According to Craft, the shooting is believed to be the result of a robbery.
Craft said that, through the investigation, detectives learned that Carthan and Davis were in the process of purchasing drugs from Malone when, during the course of the exchange, Davis allegedly pulled out a gun and robbed Malone. After the drugs were taken, Craft said Malone “gave chase” and a fight ensued before Malone was shot three times.
Carthan turned himself in to detectives on Monday evening. He was arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, second-degree robbery, and principal to second-degree murder. He also remains in the Vernon Parish Jail with no bond set.
