WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD-TV News) — Hopes for a U.S. trade deal with India may have hit a wall, with both sides signaling there is little room left for compromise.
India’s finance minister says negotiations have reached a “plateau.” U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer also recently said a deal is not imminent, although talks remain ongoing.
The U.S. ran a $58 billion trade deficit with India last year, and expanding access to the Indian market remains part of the negotiations.
For U.S. farmers, a potential agreement could create new export opportunities if the two sides eventually reach a deal.
