In 1982, after several hit-or-miss recordings and names, Huey Lewis and the News hit gold with “Do You Believe in Love,” placing the album on the Billboard 200 album chart for 35 weeks, peaking at No. 13. “Picture This” produced several other hits, “Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do,” and “Workin’ for a Livin’.”

“Sports,” released in 1983, saw four singles reach the top 10: “Heart and Soul,” “I Want a New Drug,” “The Heart of Rock & Roll,” and “If This Is It,” selling over 10 million album copies in the U.S. alone.

In 1985, true success hit with the film “Back to the Future,” which featured their song “The Power of Love” — a number one U.S. hit — as well as “Back in Time.” Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly thrilled audiences playing a Chuck Berry Gibson guitar to do Chuck’s famous “Johnny B. Goode” song as Chuck’s brother listens on the telephone. The solo inspired guitarists like John Mayer to take up the guitar.

Fake News has its own young guitarists, two of whom play solos for the audience throughout the tribute performance. Fake News — a 13-piece tribute to the incomparable Huey Lewis & The News — takes the stage at the Grand at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23. The band is complete with a five-piece horn section recreating the legendary “Tower of Power” sound with live musicians on stage — no backing tracks, no shortcuts.

So, get ready to be transported back in time as Fake News plays all of Huey’s greatest hits the way you remember them — all performed inside an elaborate stage production that leaves no doubt that the heart of rock and roll is still beating!

At press time, there are great seats still available through the Grand Theatre ticket office, 502-352-7469, or online at www.thegrandky.com. Bring your dancing shoes and enjoy a fabulous night to remember!

The Historic Grand Theatre opened in 1911 as a vaudeville house and later became a movie theater before it closed in 1966. The Grand Theatre reopened as a performance venue in the fall of 2009 after a $5 million restoration. With the support of the Franklin County Fiscal Court and the community, the Grand is investing $1.5 million in the theater in 2026, giving it a complete overhaul and ensuring our exciting future. With its resurrection, the Grand is a 428-seat performing and visual arts theatre featuring ultramodern facilities. The Grand also hosts social, educational, and civic events.
