South Carolina football is hitting the road this weekend.

The Gamecocks will face No. 16 Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday. The SEC matchup is set to kick off at 12:45 p.m. and will be televised on SEC Network.

Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks come into the game 2-3 on the year and winless in the SEC. South Carolina lost in overtime last weekend after Kentucky rallied to win. USC is now 0-3 in the conference.

Florida and first-year head coach John Sumrall are coming off their first loss of the season. The Gators are 4-1 (3-1 SEC) after losing 45-17 to Missouri on the road last week.

Florida leads the all-time series 31-10-3. South Carolina lost its last matchup to Florida in 2023 after the Gators scored two touchdowns in the final four minutes of the game to steal a win.

South Carolina’s last win over Florida was in 2021. The Gamecocks haven’t beaten Florida on the road since 2014. USC is 2-17 all-time vs. Florida in games played in Gainesville.

Injury updates

DB Jalewis Soloman, WR Jayden Sellers, edge rusher Kobby Sakyi-Prah, and OL Josiah Thompson are all listed as out.

DB Quay’sheed Scott, edge rusher Julian Walker and DL Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy are all listed as doubtful.

WR Mazeo Bennett and OL Carter Miller are both listed as questionable.

He did not play last week vs. Kentucky but returned to team activities this week and his status for the Florida game is to be determined, Beamer said Tuesday.

Weather forecast for Gainesville

There’s a solid shot you’ll be drenched by rain if you make the trip to Gainesville this weekend.

There’s an 88% chance of precipitation and a “couple showers and a thunderstorm” are expected, per AccuWeather’s current Saturday forecast.

Current models of Tropical Storm Isaias have the storm missing Gainesville (and most of Florida, for that matter), but there could be some residual precipitation as a result of the storm if you’re traveling back Sunday.

Get ready for a high of 87 and a low of 73 degrees with the real feel being around 99, per AccuWeather.

Top storylines

Stopping Baugh: South Carolina’s rushing defense has been formidable this season and is ranked in the top half of the SEC. It will need to be at its best when facing Florida. Gators running back Jaden Baugh has been one of the best rushers in the SEC and college football at large. That said, the Missouri defense proved last week it’s possible to stop him and limited Baugh to 13 rushing yards. If USC’s run defense can limit Baugh, there’s a shot the Gamecocks come away with an upset win.

Will Dylan Stewart play? The star edge rusher missed last game because of a suspension, which was announced after his behavior in South Carolina’s loss to Alabama. On Tuesday, Beamer said Stewart had returned to team activities but his status for the Florida game was to be determined. When healthy, Stewart is widely regarded as one of the best edge rushers in the country and is considered to be a first-round NFL draft pick. His impact has been relatively minimal this year, but he boosts USC’s defense any time he’s on the field.

Can a win silence hot seat chatter? Talk of Beamer’s future in Columbia has ramped up in recent weeks amid the team’s 0-3 record in SEC play. Beamer has acknowledged the talk around his job security several times and acknowledged the results haven’t been good enough. Would a win over a ranked SEC opponent on the road be enough to cool Beamer’s seat? Could it be enough to kick-start the Gamecocks during a challenging back half of the schedule? It remains to be seen.

South Carolina and Florida players to watch

South Carolina WR Mazeo Bennett: After a sophomore slump in 2025, it appears Bennett is beginning to hit his stride. The junior leads South Carolina in catches (18) and yards (201). Bennett is coming off the best game of his career last week when he tallied career highs with eight catches and 92 yards.

South Carolina EDGE Anthony Addison: The sophomore edge rusher has stepped up in the absence of star Dylan Stewart this season. Addison has seven total tackles and leads South Carolina with three sacks. Addison’s Pro Football Focus pass rush grade (79) is the highest of any Gamecock.

Florida RB Jaden Baugh: Not many people have run the ball better this year than Jadan Baugh. The junior ran for 1,170 yards last year and is on pace to fly past that number in 2026. Baugh has rushed for 613 yards (ranks No. 5 in NCAA) and 11 touchdowns (tied No. 1 in NCAA) this season. He ran for over 130 yards and multiple touchdowns in the first four games of the season before Missouri stifled him last week.

Florida LB Myles Graham: The junior leads the Florida defense with 33 tackles so far this season. Graham is one of the better linebackers in the SEC. His PFF tackle grade (87.4) is No. 1 for inside linebackers in the SEC after adjusting for minimum snaps played.
