The findings were presented at a national dialogue convened through UNESCO’s EU-funded Social Media 4 Peace project, in partnership with Research ICT Africa, the University of Pretoria’s Centre for Human Rights, the UNESCO Information for All Programme Committee, the UNESCO National Commission for South Africa and the SM4PSA Coalition.
The dialogue brought together government, regulators, civil society, academia, media, technology stakeholders and development partners. The study draws on research and consultations across these sectors, with civil society and government representatives contributing to its methodology, interviews, recommendations and validation.
