After five years at the head of Sony’s operations in the region, Hibi concludes a stage marked by regional integration, business growth and management characterized by closeness with collaborators, partners and clients.
Sony announces a new stage in its leadership structure in Latin America, following the conclusion of the assignment of Kenichiro Hibi, who for the last five years has led the company’s operations in the region as President of Sony Latin America, Sony Inter-American and Sony Mexico, in addition to participating in the regional direction of the Sony Professional Solutions Latin America business.
During his management, Hibi promoted an increasingly integrated vision of Sony in Latin America, strengthening collaboration between markets and business areas, and contributing to the growth and development of the company in a diverse and strategic region for Sony.
One of the relevant elements of this stage was the strengthening of the integration between the consumer and professional businesses within the regional strategy, opening new opportunities for Prosumo, including the Brazilian market, and promoting greater collaboration, exchange of experiences and a joint vision between the different markets in Latin America.
Beyond the excellent business results during his years leading Sony in Latin America, his leadership was distinguished by a deep closeness to people. His energy, optimism, empathy and permanent willingness to listen allowed him to build solid relationships with collaborators, distributors, clients, media, creators and business partners throughout the region.
Throughout these five years, Hibi maintained an active presence in the different Latin American markets, accompanying the teams and participating directly in meetings with clients and partners. This close bond with the region became one of the most recognized characteristics of his management and leaves a mark that transcends commercial results.
The conclusion of his assignment in Latin America also marks the close of an extensive and distinguished career within Sony Global, during which Hibi has held different international leadership positions, including responsibilities in Japan and Latin America, as well as the presidency of Sony in markets such as CIS/Russia, India and Brazil.
“Latin America has been a very special part of my career at Sony. During these years I had the opportunity to get to know markets, cultures and, above all, extraordinary people. I am deeply grateful to our teams, partners, clients and all those who have accompanied Sony during this stage. I take away the energy, creativity and warmth of this region, and the confidence that Sony will continue to grow and create new experiences with all of them,” said Kenichiro Hibi.
New leadership structure
As of February 1, 2027, Takahito Uesugi will assume the Presidency of Sony Latin America and Sony Inter-American, based in Panama, in addition to supporting the regional management of Sony Professional Solutions Latin America together with Toru Suzuki, President of Sony Professional Solutions Latin America. Likewise, Kazuki Shibamoto will assume the Presidency of Sony Mexico.
This evolution will allow us to continue strengthening Sony’s strategies in each market and business area, while maintaining a regional vision aimed at Latin American clients, partners, creators and consumers.
Sony deeply thanks Kenichiro Hibi for his leadership, commitment and dedication during these five years, as well as for a management that leaves a significant contribution to the business and, especially, to the people who are part of the Sony ecosystem in Latin America.
