Search committee named for next dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

Provost Debbie Tahmassebi has named a search committee to identify the next dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences. The national search follows the July 2025 announcement that Dr. Heather Hathaway, professor of English, had been named acting dean. Provost Debbie Tahmassebi has named a search committee to identify the next dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences. The national search follows the July 2025 announcement that Dr. Heather Hathaway, professor of English, had been named acting dean.

Dr. Martin St. Maurice, chair and professor of biological sciences, will chair the search committee, which comprises the following: 

  • Dr. Julia Azari, professor of political science
  • Dr. Lowell Barrington, professor of political science
  • Dr. William E. Cullinan, dean of the College of Health Sciences
  • Dr. Deirdre Dempsey, associate professor of theology
  • Molly Eldridge, senior director of development, University Advancement
  • Dr. Jody Jessup-Anger, chair and professor, School of Education
  • Dr. Conor Kelly, incoming vice president for mission and ministry; associate vice provost for faculty affairs and associate professor of theology
  • Dr. Michael Olson, teaching professor of philosophy; director, Marquette Core Curriculum
  • Dr. Ben Pladek, associate professor of English
  • Dr. Scott Reid, associate dean of academic affairs and professor of chemistry
  • James Ryan, university trustee
  • Dr. Christine Schindler, clinical professor of nursing
  • Hans Schultz, manager of academic business affairs

The search committee will be assisted by the search firm Isaacson, Miller, to ensure a strong pool of candidates.
