Register now for the SIU System Technology and Innovation Expo

Faculty and staff can register now for the SIU System’s Technology and Innovation Expo (TIE) on Oct. 21 from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at SIU Edwardsville’s Health Sciences Complex in Edwardsville. It’s free to attend. Register and learn more at tie.siu.edu.

The theme is “High Tech. Big Possibilities.” The afternoon features SIU innovation and research, discussions with industry leaders and presentations exploring emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, health technology, data centers and more.

The Expo also creates an opportunity for people from across our campuses to connect with one another and with industry partners interested in the work happening throughout the SIU System.

The expo includes a keynote address, innovation showcase and a panel discussion. In addition, 11 faculty from SIU Carbondale, SIU Edwardsville and the SIU School of Medicine will be giving speed pitches and table presentations.

Greg Ritter, strategy leader for Libraries, Scholarly Communication, and Research Data for Amazon Web Services (AWS), is delivering the keynote. He will present “Using AI to Support the Research Lifecycle and the Impact of the Changing Federal Funding Landscape.”

Linda Baker, interim director and university professor at the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, will moderate a panel discussion on data centers.

The panelists are:

  • Jessica Garcia, energy policy director, Illinois Environmental Council.
  • Brad Tietz, director, state government affairs-Midwest, Data Center Coalition.
  • Cheryl (Cheri) R. Welge, manager of economic development, Ameren Illinois.

A common thread that bonds researchers and innovators across the SIU System is a desire to make the future better. Regardless of their discipline, they seek to improve the delivery of treatments, information, services and learning. Whether in engineering, medicine, agriculture, energy, sustainability or other fields, they collectively explore and expand their knowledge.

TIE showcases some of these extraordinary individuals who are building and creating the future. By bringing together the resources of SIU’s campuses, the expo gives industry partners and potential investors the opportunity to learn about the inventions and products of its top researchers.

Event sponsors include SIU Carbondale, SIU Edwardsville, the SIU School of Medicine, the SIU Carbondale Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, OSF Healthcare and Amazon Web Services.
