What Happened?

Pinterest (PINS:NYSE) said on Monday that it has named James Dibbo as its new chief financial officer. He starts on October 26.

Dibbo is 56 and comes from Amazon, where he led finance for Ads, Prime Video, and Amazon MGM Studios, among others. He replaces Julia Donnelly.

Donnelly joined Pinterest in 2023. In August, the company said she would leave on October 30. She is going to a private, early-stage company.

CEO Bill Ready praised the pick. He said Dibbo has led complex global businesses at scale and built strong teams.

He also said Dibbo understands how consumer experience, shopping, advertising and technology fit together.

Pinterest shares were up about 1% in extended trading after the news.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Pinterest Stock

The market reaction is small. A 1% rise suggests investors see this as a routine leadership change, not a shock.

Pinterest stock may stay focused on bigger questions, like ad growth.

Dibbo’s ad background fits what Pinterest needs. Management has said it is still a long way from fully monetizing the shopping intent on its platform.

Ready said clicks to advertisers grew more than 5x over three years, but revenue did not.

The business is in decent shape. In Q2, revenue was $1.18 billion, up 18%. Monthly active users hit a record 640 million.

Adjusted EBITDA was $311 million, a 26% margin. Management raised its 2026 margin target to about 30%.

There are still challenges. Pinterest guided Q3 revenue growth to 13% to 15%. That is slower than Q2.

It also faces a tough ad market with big rivals like Instagram and Facebook. Europe is expected to be pressured as well.
