Noreen Killen has been named interim CEO of Mid-America Science Museum, effective as of Oct. 3.
The Hot Springs museum is conducting a national search for its next chief executive officer.
Killen will lead the museum following CEO Diane LaFollette’s retirement after 13 years leading the institution. Prior to her new role, Killen served as chief operating officer and has been with Mid-America since 2011, previously serving as director of guest services.
“I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside Mid-America and be part of many important moments in the museum’s history,” Killen said. “My focus during this transition will be on providing continuity for our staff and continuing to serve the students, families and communities who rely on the museum.”
As chief operating officer, Killen oversees museum operations and has been involved in major institutional initiatives, including the museum’s accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, according to a press release.
“Noreen knows this museum from the ground up and understands both its operations and its mission,” LaFollette said. “We have worked closely together for many years, and I have tremendous confidence in her ability to lead the museum through this transition.”
