Noel Clarke has pleaded not guilty to six sexual offense charges.
Appearing at Westminster Magistrates Court in London on Wednesday morning, the actor, writer and director entered not guilty pleas in relation to all the charges, which include two charges of sexual assault, three charges of voyeurism and one charge of exposure.
The charges relate to alleged offenses that took place between 2007 and 2016 involving five women.
As well as a long-running role on “Doctor Who” as dimension-hopping hero Mickey Smith, Clarke won critical acclaim for his teen dramas “Kidulthood,” “Adulthood” and “Brotherhood.”
He also co-wrote Sky drama “Bulletproof” with Ashley Walters, which ran for three seasons. It was cancelled in spring 2021 after The Guardian published an article containing multiple sexual misconduct allegations, which Clarke denied at the time.
Clarke eventually brought a libel claim against the newspaper, which he lost last year after the judge, finding in favor of The Guardian, held that the paper’s reporting was “substantially true.” Justice Steyn also found Clarke to lack credibility as a witness.
The actor was ordered to pay £3 million ($4 million) of the paper’s legal costs.
Last month, Clarke was charged by London’s Metropolitan Police after the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service (similar to a D.A.) gave authorization having reviewed a file of evidence.
He will next appear in court on Nov. 18.
