A woman was shot Monday afternoon in South Carolina and there’s a search for the person who pulled the trigger, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. About an hour later an additional release said the “Deputies have located a second female victim on Reseda Dr. in connection with this incident.”
Law enforcement officials report the “situation is currently under control with a person of interest in custody.”
Sheriff Leon Lott announces Monday afternoon in a news release, the arrest of Donald Wheeler, 75. He charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and three counts of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, according to the release.
At about noon, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Palmetto Park Circle, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s in the Lake Carolina area of Columbia.
Deputies found a woman who had been shot multiple times, in the upper and lower body, according to the release. The suspected shooter left before the deputies arrived, the sheriff’s department said.
EMS took the victim to an area hospital, according to the release. Further information on her condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
At about 1 p.m., the sheriff’s department said that investigators and members of the Crime Scene Unit were at the scene, and that this “incident is currently ongoing.”
