A Centertown man has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a 67-year-old woman at the Office Bar in Jefferson City.
Damon Crocker, 57, was at the Office Bar on West McCarty Street around 3:34 p.m. on Friday, where video footage obtained by the Cole County Police Department allegedly showed Crocker getting into his vehicle and backing up into the woman.
He had allegedly been drinking in the bar, according to court documents.
Crocker allegedly rolled over the woman’s legs and torso with his F-150 pickup truck and proceeded to drive forward with the woman underneath, according to court records.
He eventually realized “something was wrong,” exited the vehicle and saw the victim on the ground, according to court documents.
The woman, who appeared to be conscious, alert, and with moderate injuries, would later die at University Hospital in Columbia almost two hours later, according to previous KOMU 8 reporting.
Law enforcement at the scene investigated Crocker for possible intoxication. He admitted to drinking two beers and a shot of liquor, but refused a breath test at the scene and requested an attorney, according to court documents.
He was placed under arrest and brought into custody at the Cole County Jail on no bond.
Crocker later blew a 0.099 blood alcohol content in a breath test, according to court records.
He has been arraigned on four previous DUIs with two convictions, according to court documents.
Crocker is expected in court at 2 p.m. Monday.
