“Nothing is more important to me than my daughters,” Dončić said in a statement to The Athletic. “I will do whatever it takes to make sure they have both parents present in their lives.”

Dončić and his longtime girlfriend ended their engagement in March, leading to an ongoing custody battle over the daughters.

The two began dating in 2016 and were engaged in 2023.

Luka Dončić carries the physical toll of a demanding season

Luka Dončić carried a heavy workload throughout the season, often playing through physical challenges as the wear of the schedule accumulated.

Now sidelined for the remainder of the regular season, these images reflect moments when the strain of the year was visible as Dončić worked through injuries while leading his team.

His then-fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, had filed for child support from Dončić last March, but later withdrew her suit. According to The Athletic, Dončić filed his petition in Slovenia, where he lives in the offseason, but local laws prevent it from being made public.

In August, Dončić hosted his teammates for a minicamp in an attempt to build team chemistry after the team overhauled the roster during the offseason. The All-NBA player’s decision to have the minicamp in the home country allowed him to remain close to his two daughters.

He did not compete with the Slovenia national team this summer, as he focused on the legal matters while also recovering from a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.

“I love my daughters more than anything, and they will always come first in my life,” Dončić wrote in a post on Instagram in May. “As I continue working toward joint custody of my daughters, I have been forced to make a difficult decision between traveling and playing for the Slovenian national team and being with my daughters this summer. Unfortunately, it has been made extremely difficult for me to see them over the past eight months.”
