The Genesis GV90 shows LG supplying hardware beneath Hyundai’s own software, leaving the automaker in charge of the user experience
LG Electronics is supplying six in-cabin systems for the Genesis GV90, the brand’s first full-size flagship SUV, covering displays, infotainment, content and connectivity. At its heart is a 24.6-inch display that rises 90 mm when stationary, a first for a Genesis model.
Lowered for driving, the screen shows 23.6 inches and merges navigation, media and the instrument cluster. LG’s infotainment unit hosts Hyundai Motor Group’s own Pleos Connect operating system and Gleo AI voice assistant, placing LG hardware beneath the automaker’s software stack.
Rear occupants get a second-generation entertainment system with a 13.2-inch OLED touchscreen, drawing on LG’s content platform for apps such as Netflix. An eight-inch console touchscreen with haptic feedback handles climate, seats, doors and massage.
Tying it together is LG’s central communication unit 2.0, which links key control units to outside networks for remote and over-the-air services. TÜV Rheinland has certified the unit against Automotive Safety Integrity Level D requirements of the ISO 26262 functional safety standard.
In a statement, Eun Seok-hyun, President of the LG Vehicle Solution Company, said: “By combining our capabilities in display, infotainment, content platform and vehicle control technologies, we are helping provide more seamless and intuitive experiences for drivers and passengers. We will continue to advance our integrated in-cabin solutions to help shape the future of in-vehicle experiences.”
