Governor Axel Kicillof led this Wednesday in the Golden Room of the Government House of the Province a meeting with representatives of chambers, clusters and Buenos Aires SMEs suppliers of the energy and mining sectors, in which he announced the opening of registration for SMEs to the second edition of the Energy and Mining Business Round. Present were the Minister of Production, Science and Technological Innovation of the Province, Augusto Costa; the Chief of Advisors to the Governor, Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez; the provincial Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, Gabriel Katopodis; the Buenos Aires Undersecretary of Industry and SMEs, Mariela Bembi; the Undersecretary of Commercial Development and Investment Promotion, Ariel Aguilar; the Undersecretary of Mining, Laura Delgado; and the Undersecretary of Energy, Gastón Ghioni.
Representatives from chambers such as ADIMRA, GAPP, CAPIPE, CAPMIN, and CIPIBIC, from local industrial chambers and from the supplier clusters of Mar del Plata, Berazategui, Morón and San Martín participated in the meeting. During the meeting, the sector’s leaders presented the challenges and opportunities that Buenos Aires companies face to integrate into the energy and mining value chains.
In this context, Kicillof stated: “The National Government is carrying out an adjustment plan that destroys production, weakens the internal market and causes the loss of thousands of jobs.” “No one can say that the macroeconomy is working well when wages fall, unemployment increases and companies cannot sell what they produce: what is wrong is precisely this policy that promotes deindustrialization,” he added.
“All countries are reconfiguring their productive matrices in the face of geopolitical and technological transformations: Argentina has enormous opportunities thanks to its energy and mineral resources and its industrial and scientific capacity, but we are wasting them,” Kicillof remarked, and added: “It is a lie that we have to choose between being an industrial or a primarized country: we need to take advantage of our natural resources to develop value chains, strengthen national production and generate more employment.”
Finally, Kicillof said: “In the face of a scheme that encourages unfair competition, the indiscriminate opening of imports and the destruction of the productive fabric, from the Province we are going to continue making all the management tools of the State and public banks available to chambers, SMEs and companies.”
For his part, Minister Augusto Costa highlighted: “This meeting is truly important and is part of a daily work agenda between the Provincial Government and the productive sectors. It allows for an exchange on the perspectives that exist for each of the different segments of the sector and on the possibilities, for Buenos Aires companies, of development as suppliers for these value chains.”
“The different activities that we have been doing from the Government of the province of Buenos Aires show the importance of the Provincial State to drive economic growth and, above all, to promote the development of SMEs in Buenos Aires,” added Minister Costa.
The new Energy and Mining Business Round will be held on Tuesday, December 1 at the Argentine Theater in La Plata, under the motto “Integration with Buenos Aires added value.” It will bring together the main oil, gas, electricity and mining companies with Buenos Aires SME suppliers in B2B meetings, which will be scheduled according to the supply needs declared by each purchasing company. The day will also include institutional stands, networking spaces and discussions on supplier development.
Participation will be free and more than 30 purchasing companies have already confirmed their attendance, including Pan American Energy, Axion, Pampa Energía, Trafigura, TGS, TGN, Camuzzi, Metrogas, YPF Luz, Transener, Loma Negra and Cementos Avellaneda, in addition to eight buyers from Angola, Chile and Peru.
SMEs interested in participating in the Round can register in the form available at gba.gob.ar/produccion/ronda_de_negocioswhich has a pre-registration nature. The participation of each SME in the Round is subject to one of the purchasing companies selecting it to meet. Therefore, it is important that SMEs complete the form with detailed information about their company, the products and services they offer and their experience with the sectors.
The first edition of the Round, held in November 2025, brought together 45 purchasing companies and 204 supplier SMEs from 42 municipalities. 1,010 business meetings were held, with an average of 8 deals projected and close to USD 500,000 annually for each purchasing company.
The Round is part of a permanent work agenda of the Province with the sector, which includes initiatives such as technical assistance for the formation of the energy and mining clusters of Berazategui and Morón, the San Martín Mining Suppliers Table, the Supplier Development program together with the CFI and financing from Banco Provincia. In addition, the Province has the Provincial Strategic Investment Regime (RPIE), which unlike the RIGI, in addition to granting tax incentives, requires beneficiary companies to have a supplier development program with a minimum of 50% from Buenos Aires SMEs.
