Bruce Poon Tip has spent more than three decades building G Adventures into one of the defining companies in adventure travel. He founded the business in Toronto in 1990, built its identity around small-group and community-based tourism, founded the nonprofit Planeterra, and became one of the industry’s most visible founder personalities.
Poon Tip no longer runs the operating company day to day. He is chairman of G Travel Community, the holding company created in 2023. Ben Perlo is CEO of G Adventures, and Jeff Russill is CEO of G Travel Community.
The company itself remains much harder to assess than its founder. G Adventures is privately held and does not publish the kind of consolidated annual report that makes its worldwide financial picture easy to follow. Corporate filings in Britain, along with Canadian records, provide an unusually detailed view of how the business went through Covid and came back.
