The story is set in Mumbai in the early 2000s. Jay, Tony, Saahil and Sameer come from middle-class homes, and each is weighed down by family duties while hoping for something better. Hard times bring them closer. Then a single choice, made because they feel they have no other option, puts them in the path of gangsters and draws the attention of the police. Their bid to change their lives turns into a dangerous chase, and the friendship becomes the one thing protecting them.
“‘Chaar Yaar’ combines friendship, ambition, humor, and unexpected twists that makes for a thoroughly entertaining ride,” said Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals (SVOD) at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios India. “We have always been at the forefront of backing new talent, and the stellar performances from our young lead cast are an absolute treat to watch. Vinay Waikul’s direction and craft bring a unique new flavor to this world.”
The show will stream exclusively in Hindi on Prime Video in India and more than 240 countries and territories from Oct. 23.
Prime Video’s local slate includes “Mirzapur,” “The Family Man,” “Panchayat,” “Paatal Lok” and “Farzi.”
