AutoTech Breakthrough named Ready Aware its Driver Safety Solution of the Year, Harman’s fourth consecutive win in the programme
Harman’s Ready Aware, which warns drivers about hazards before they come into view, has been named Driver Safety Solution of the Year at the 2026 AutoTech Breakthrough Awards. The cloud-based system needs no extra sensors or hardware, and the award is Harman’s fourth in a row from the programme.
Ready Aware is a vehicle-to-network (V2N) software-as-a-service platform. It combines vehicle, road, traffic, weather and infrastructure data in the cloud to warn drivers of hazards beyond their line of sight. A confidence engine scores each event and filters out false positives to limit alert fatigue. The platform offers more than 15 use cases, including warnings of disabled vehicles, emergency braking ahead, slippery roads, lane closures and traffic signal changes.
The system runs over existing 4G and 5G connectivity, so carmakers can add it without extra sensors or hardware and expand its features through software updates. Harman says it also helps carmakers meet relevant Euro NCAP criteria while letting them keep control of how the service is monetised.
“Almost a quarter of U.S. traffic deaths and roughly half of injuries are related to intersections. Cameras and sensors can be limited by physical occlusions and, on their own, may not have access to information about upcoming signal changes or other traffic conditions,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director of AutoTech Breakthrough.
Because the alerts travel over cellular networks, Ready Aware avoids the dedicated roadside and in-vehicle V2X hardware that has slowed direct vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. The same awards programme also named Indie Semiconductor’s driver and occupant monitoring platform its In-Cabin Solution of the Year.
