I think we only start one place and that’s the fact that we now have flying cars, according to Tesla’s demo last night. Several caveats here. Now, if you haven’t seen the video, I would highly recommend going and watching it. This car, the new Roadster, debuted last night at an event with Tesla, essentially drives up a curved ramp, and then flips itself through the sky, turns around and lands on the ground from what looks like maybe 40, 50 ft up with um cold air thrusters underneath, which was kind of the big
00:25 Speaker B
People don’t, people don’t have to go and watch the video. We
00:27 Speaker A
We have it right there. It there it is. Um, caveats.
00:31 Speaker C
It almost doesn’t look real.
00:32 Speaker A
It it doesn’t look real.
00:33 Speaker C
I I thought it it was a spoof.
00:35 Speaker B
But people were there and they saw it, so.
00:37 Speaker A
Oh, the cheers were unbelievable. Yeah. No, caveats. No driver in the car. The other caveat, that that model which they’re calling the Rocket, which is invite only for buyers, is not street legal. The US will not let you put that on the road because they do not want you driving down I-95 and getting frustrated with traffic and trying to jump over the semi in front of you.
1:00 Speaker C
Which you know would happen.
1:01 Speaker B
Yeah, of course it would.
1:02 Speaker A
I think people try it anyway. Now, without the ro, uh the boosters. Um, bringing it back around, the the idea here is to release three models of this car. The base is called the Performance, two seats, road ready, road legal. It has the suction system that allows it to drive up really steep hills, but it doesn’t have the thrusters that get it off the ground.
1:23 Speaker B
Right.
1:24 Speaker A
The rocket after that, a one seat, uh excuse me, the thrust after that, a two-seat race ready version, a little more powerful. Still no, I don’t know what to call them, thrusters?
1:34 Speaker B
Thrusters.
1:34 Speaker C
Thrusters.
1:35 Speaker A
And then you have the rocket, non-street legal, one seat, invite only, uh does have the thrusters. I think the question for people right now, because these aren’t going to go into production until 2028. We don’t know how they’re going to be priced. They’re almost certainly not going to be an inventory mover. And so then is this the catalyst that gets people really excited about Tesla again or is this just a Musk showing off some great technology that’s never going to go anywhere.
1:56 Speaker B
No.
1:56 Speaker C
No, that’s it.
1:57 Speaker B
No, as a, as a Tesla investor, no.
1:58 Speaker C
The whole point of the Roadster is sort of that halo effect. Like, what does Pross called it? He’s talked about like that all the car makers have this one. They they have their, their one car, like um
2:08 Speaker C
Uh, you know, Bugatti has the Veyron, like they have the one car that’s the sexy thing, right?
2:12 Speaker C
It’s not necessarily material, but it does create excitement, less so for the shareholders and probably more so for the car owners and just the enthusiasts of the brand of, uh, of Tesla. To your point, it’s not going to get made for a little while. It probably won’t sell many. It’s sort of like the Cybertruck.
2:29 Speaker A
Yeah, even the even the bottom level that is street legal and that is probably going to be somewhat reasonably priced, I don’t imagine is going to be a huge money maker for this company.
2:38 Speaker C
I mean, but it’s still, it’s cool. It’s like fun to talk about it, it’s fun to play the video 50 times.
2:43 Speaker A
It is.
