COLUMBIA – Texas A&M fell to No. 14 Missouri, 27-6, Saturday afternoon from Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium.

All six of the Aggies’ points came off the leg of David Olano. The Naperville, Illinois, native drilled a 53-yard attempt in the first quarter and converted a 27-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Senior nickelback Jordan Shaw led the defensive unit with eight tackles and contributed a career-high 1.5 tackles for loss. The Maroon & White’s lone turnover came on the Tigers’ opening drive as senior linebacker Daymion Sanford secured his second career interception.

The Aggies’ offense could only muster 216 yards of total offense. Senior quarterback Marcel Reed completed 19 passes on 39 attempts for 187 yards. Graduate tight end Houston Thomas led the squad with four receptions for a season-high 30 yards, while sophomore wide receiver TK Norman registered a career-best 55 yards on three receptions.

How it Happened

  • A 53-yard field goal by Olano put the Aggies on the board first, 3-0.
  • The Tigers found paydirt on a 32-yard touchdown reception by Cayden Lee at the beginning of the second quarter.
  • With 8:40 to play in the first half, Missouri converted a 50-yard field goal to extend its edge to 10-3.
  • Brandon Davis-Swain blocked a Missouri field goal attempt as time expired in the second quarter to keep it a one-score bout after one half.
  • The Tigers opened the second half with a 51-yard field goal to go out in front, 13-3.
  • Jamal Roberts scored on a 2-yard rush in the closing seconds of the third quarter to extend Missouri’s advantage to 20-3.
  • Olano was successful on a 27-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 20-6.
  • Roberts broke away on a 54-yard touchdown rush to seal the final score at 27-6 in Missouri’s favor.

Game Notes

  • Texas A&M registered an interception on its opponents opening drive for the second consecutive
  • Olano is 9-for-9 on field goal attempts to start the season, becoming the first Aggie to do so since Todd Pegram made his first 12 attempts in 2004.
  • Norman’s 55 receiving yards marked a career high.
  • Tyler White punted seven times for an average of 52.7 yards per punt, his highest average in a single game this season.
