The Energy Union Task Force – Security has met today to discuss the latest developments concerning the situation on the diesel market and impact on prices. Comprising high-level representatives from the European Commission and EU countries, the participants exchanged information and examined appropriate measures to tackle the situation. The Task Force stressed the importance of close cooperation and coordination amid the current challenging market situation.
The International Energy Agency informed the Task Force members about the state of play of the collective action to release oil stocks launched in March this year.
EU diesel supply remains stable for the time being, but prices remain high, reflecting global market tightness.
The Commission and the Task Force will continue monitoring the situation in the EU very closely and coordinate action as necessary.
