Installation will begin in early 2027. Members of the airline’s Safar Flyer loyalty programme will receive free access once their aircraft has been equipped.
The service is intended to let passengers stream videos, work online and stay connected during flights, including journeys linking Casablanca with other African cities and international destinations.
“Soon, passengers and crew onboard @RoyalAirMaroc will have access to Starlink, the same high-speed, low-latency internet that is already transforming travel on other continents. From Casablanca to the rest of Africa and beyond, travelers will enjoy reliable internet in flight,” Starlink also confirm on X.
The announcement gives a firm timetable and aircraft count to the airline’s connectivity plans. It does not mean Starlink is already available on its flights.
According to Royal Air Maroc’s 7 October statement, carried by Moroccan public broadcaster SNRT News, the installation will proceed gradually. The airline and SpaceX describe the agreement as an African airline first.
Competing on the passenger experience
Royal Air Maroc chief executive Hamid Addou said the agreement belongs to a wider programme covering fleet renewal, cabin improvements and passenger services.
Starlink executive Lauren Dreyer said the partnership would bring the connectivity experience already available on other continents to passengers travelling through Morocco. Neither company disclosed the contract’s value.
The move places Royal Air Maroc alongside international airlines adopting satellite internet as part of their service upgrades.
Air France began introducing Starlink-powered Wi-Fi in 2025 and set a target of equipping its entire fleet by the end of 2026. Its service is also accessed through a loyalty account, showing how airlines are combining onboard benefits with their frequent-flyer programmes.
For Royal Air Maroc, reliable internet could strengthen its appeal to business travellers and passengers connecting through Casablanca. That is a potential commercial benefit, rather than a booking increase the airline has demonstrated.
