LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas has officially become a U.S. citizen.
Rojas, a native of Venezuela, took his citizenship test in Miami and passed during the Dodgers’ bye week last week.
“I’ve been playing professional baseball for a long time, and that gave me the opportunity to learn the culture, the country and I don’t take that for granted,” Rojas recently told reporters.
The 37-year-old came to the United States when he was 16 years old. He is in his 13th season as a MLB player and has spent five seasons with the Dodgers, where he has become a two-time World Series champion.
Rojas is preparing to conclude his playing career and plans to retire after the postseason.
