The Punjab government has announced an 8 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for the government employees of the state. An official order in this regard has been issued by the Finance Department on 23 September 2026. According to the order, Punjab Government employees will now get dearness allowance at the rate of 50 percent. Earlier, DA was being given to the employees at the rate of 42 percent.

The government has decided to implement the new rate of dearness allowance from September 1, 2026. That means, along with the salary of September 2026, employees will get the benefit of increased DA. In the letter issued by the Finance Department of Punjab Government, it has been said that after the approval of the Governor, the existing rate of DA for government employees has been increased by 8 percent.
The Finance Department has sent copies of the order in this regard to the concerned officers including heads of all departments, Divisional Commissioners, Registrar of Punjab and Haryana High Court, District and Sessions Judges and Secretary of Punjab Assembly.
Apart from this, information about the order has also been sent to Accountant General (Audit) Punjab, Accountant General (A&E) Punjab and all district treasury officers and treasury officers.
Chief Minister had given information on social media
Recently, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had held a meeting with employees and pensioners’ organizations and after the meeting, he gave information by posting on social media. After the meeting, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had said on ‘X’ account, ‘Today a meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere with employee and pensioner organizations. Employees are an important part of our family and keeping their well-being in mind, we have decided to immediately increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 8 percent.
