SAN DIEGO — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Forrest Rednour (WPC 1129) interdicted 18 suspected aliens approximately 20 miles west of Carlsbad on Sunday.
At approximately 4:25 a.m., the cutter’s crew detected a 25-foot panga-style vessel transiting north of the maritime boundary line and launched a small boat crew to intercept it.
At approximately 5:45 a.m., the boatcrew arrived on scene and a boarding team embarked the vessel and detained 18 suspected aliens.
The cutter’s crew transported all 18 suspected aliens to Oceanside, where they were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents.
