Hamburg-based chemicals distributor Biesterfeld has announced an expansion of its long-standing collaboration with Eastman, a global specialty materials company. Effective immediately, Biesterfeld is authorised to distribute Eastman’s coatings and inks product portfolio across Southern Africa, operating through its local presence Aerontec. The distribution agreement covers South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Eswatini, Namibia, Malawi and Botswana.
The portfolio made available under the agreement includes a range of performance additives, resins and solvents. Among the products are “Texanol” ester alcohol, “Advantex” neutralising amine additive, “Solus” performance additive, “Tetrashield” protective resin system and “Optifilm” enhancers. The portfolio also comprises Eastman cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB), chlorinated polyolefins (CPO), methyl isoamyl ketone (MIAK) and methyl n-amyl ketone (MAK).
Broad application range across coatings and inks segments
The products are used across a wide range of applications, including architectural, automotive and industrial coatings as well as commercial and packaging inks. Depending on the specific product, they are suitable for formulations ranging from paints and automotive clear coats to printing inks and other graphic arts applications. Customers in the region will have access to Biesterfeld’s formulation expertise, technical support, local presence and warehousing capabilities through Aerontec.
