The BBC News channel is now available to stream live on YouTube in both the UK and USA, marking a significant step in expanding access to trusted, impartial journalism in more places people use every day.
The trial, which started on Thursday 15 October, offers viewers comprehensive coverage of international and domestic news, major political developments, business, technology, culture and breaking events, supported by BBC News’ global network of journalists and correspondents.
The launch is part of the BBC’s wider YouTube strategy to reach new and younger audiences where they are – and ensure viewers can access reliable, impartial news from the world’s most trusted news organisation. The UK and USA join a growing list of countries where the BBC News channel is available on YouTube, including Australia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Poland.
Anjali Kapoor, Director, AI, Innovation and Growth for BBC News says: “Audiences increasingly expect news to be available wherever they are, on the platforms they use throughout their day. Launching the BBC News channel on YouTube in the UK and US is an important step in bringing our trusted journalism to even more people. It will make it easier for audiences to access live coverage of the stories shaping our world, while helping us reach new audiences in the places and at the times that work best for them.”
Alison Lomax, YouTube UK Managing Director says: “It is an incredible milestone that YouTube’s audiences in the UK, US, Australia, Kenya, Nigeria and Poland can now access BBC’s live news channel, making trusted news even more accessible to a new generation of digital first viewers”.
The BBC News channel is also available on BBC iPlayer, the BBC News website and app in the UK – and on cable, Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST)/Connected TV platforms, BBC.com and the BBC app in the US.
