Therefore, banks will remain closed today due to the second Saturday of October. Bank branches will remain closed today in almost all the states of the country including Delhi. According to the RBI holiday list, today is a bank holiday in Bengaluru and Kolkata due to Mahalaya Amavasya on October 10.

According to RBI guidelines, every Sunday is a holiday in all banks. Also, the locks remain hanging on the second and fourth Saturdays also. In October 2026, banks will remain closed on Sundays, 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th October. - 17 October (Maha Saptami): Banks will remain closed in Agartala.
- October 19 (Mahanavami/Ayudh Puja/Durga Puja/Dussehra): Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi and Shillong. October 20 (Dussehra/Vijayadashami): Banks will remain closed in most cities of the country except Gangtok and Imphal.
- October 21 (Vijayadashami/Durga Puja/Dasai): Bank holiday in Agartala, Bengaluru, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
- 22 and 23 October (Durga Puja/Dasai): Banks will remain closed for two consecutive days in Gangtok.
- 26 October (Lakshmi Puja/Accession Day/Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti): Work will remain disrupted in Agartala, Chandigarh, Jammu, Shimla and Srinagar.
- 29 October (Karva Chauth): Banks will remain closed in Shimla.
- 31 October (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti): Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad.

- Through internet banking, tasks ranging from checking account balance to bill payment can be done easily.
- The facility of online fund transfer through NEFT and RTGS continues without any interruption.
- ATMs will remain open for cash withdrawal. Credit and debit card related work, applications for new check book or locker can also be given through online banking.
