Due to the weather conditions that have affected the central area of the country, This Sunday a mudslide occurred in the open pit mine sector of the El Teniente Division of Codelco which, according to Meganoticias, left a worker dead.
Both the Public Ministry and the Investigative Police (PDI) confirmed the death of one of the workers who was in the sector at the time of the incident. In addition, it was reported that the PDI Homicide Brigade is already traveling to the scene to investigate the event.
The accident It occurred around 2 p.m. local time in the North Crater area. while three employees of the contracting company AURA carried out inspections, according to preliminary information from the Chilean mining regulator Sernageomin, cited by Radio Cooperativa.
The company would have immediately activated the security measures to protect the integrity of those affected by the event. One of them was rescued and taken to a care center, while the other two had already been located and their rescue had begun.
The information was released through a statement in which the state company highlighted that “Safety is an essential and inalienable value of its management and will continue to allocate all necessary resources to protect people and address this emergency.”
