The Peronist deputy, Guillermo Michelis proposing to annul the Agreements what they give economic and tax benefits to Chilean companies that invest in the trans-Andean country, due to the business that will be carried out Punta Arenas with the Falkland Islands (Malvinas).

In an X-post, Michel points out that the “Malvinas is a national cause. The defense of its territory and its natural resources is a priority”.

“The return of the Punta Arenas-Malvinas trade route, with the first navigation of the Danstar ship, with the Chilean flag and property of the Easter Island Naviera shipping company, scheduled for November to supply the inhabitants of the Islands and reestablish a regular commercial service with Puerto Argentino, is a concrete example of Chile’s lack of solidarity with the Malvinas cause.”, he noted.

In that sense, he explained that “If Chile decides to do business illegally in the Malvinas, it cannot receive economic and tax benefits from Argentina for its investments in our country.”.

“The proposal is reasonable, it does not seek to break the dialogue or diplomatic relations. But neither can our country maintain economic and fiscal advantages for Chile if it continues to go against the Malvinas cause.”, he noted.

And he added that “For this reason, we propose to annul the Agreements that give economic and tax benefits to Chilean companies that invest in Argentina.”.

“1. Treaty on Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments signed between the Argentine Republic and the Republic of Chile, approved by law 24,342.

2. Agreement between the Argentine Republic and the Republic of Chile to Eliminate Double Taxation in Relation to Taxes on Income and Wealth and to Prevent Tax Evasion and Avoidance, approved by law 27,274”, he stated.
