LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — In an effort to encourage more Arkansans to travel and enjoy scenic destinations, the Arkansas Department of Transportation has launched a five-trip challenge called Explore AR Highways.
The quest, announced Monday, October 12, is designed to promote sight-seeing and also unique sights that the Natural State has to offer.
“Whether you are traveling to work, going on a grocery run, or taking a road trip, you have been impacted by a transportation network that has been expanding and improving for decades,” said ARDOT Director Jared Wiley. “These destinations are connected by more than just the State they are found in. If you reached one of these scenic locations, it’s because a highway brought you there.”
Listed below are set locations that require visitors to take a photo of before exiting.
- City Rock Bluff
- Great River Road
- Highway 7 Scenic Byway
- Pig Trail Scenic Byway
- Cossatot River
After participants visit all five locations, an online form must be completed to receive an exclusive bumper sticker featuring one of the five locations. The first 250 participants to complete the quest will also receive a commemorative ARDOT Challenge Coin, according to a release.
In a new Facebook or Instagram post, tag ARDOT and use the hashtag #ExploreARHighways in the caption.
