The free policy extensions will last until October 6, or until the customer returns to Israel (whichever occurs first).
The company noted that the coverage extension is automatic, with no action needed from customers.
“This temporary suspension will allow the relevant authorities to continue their work and establish all the facts surrounding the incident,” flydubai said in a statement released on Wednesday after the incident. “We remain in close coordination with government authorities, regulators, and airport stakeholders and will review the suspension as more information becomes available.”
The airline’s announcement followed a recommendation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) earlier on Wednesday that flights between the United Arab Emirates and Israel should be suspended until the investigation progresses.
Israeli carriers have stepped in to provide repatriation flights for stranded passengers, the first of which, operated by Arkia, landed in Israel on Saturday.
