Postal Employees Bonus 2026: Before Diwali, the Postal Department has given great news to its employees. For the financial year 2025-26, the Postal Department has approved 60 days of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) to the eligible employees. This decision will benefit MTS, Group C, Non-Gazetted Group B, Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) and some casual labourers. To calculate the bonus, the maximum monthly salary will be considered to be ₹ 7,000. On this basis, regular employees can get a bonus of up to ₹ 13,816.
Who will get 60 days bonus?
According to the order of the Postal Department, bonus will be given to three categories of people.
- Regular Employees: Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Group C and Non-Gazetted Group B employees.
- Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS): GDS working regularly will get ex-gratia bonus.
- Casual workers: Ad-hoc bonus will be given to full-time and temporary status casual workers who fulfill the prescribed conditions.
How will the bonus amount be decided?
Bonus for regular employees will be calculated using the following formula:
Bonus = (Average monthly salary × Bonus days) ÷ 30.4
During the financial year 2025-26, the eligible salary per month will be considered only up to a maximum of ₹ 7,000. Even if the salary in any month is more than this, only ₹ 7,000 will be added to the bonus. To arrive at the average monthly salary, the eligible salary from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 will be added. After this the total amount will be divided by 12. There will be deduction as per the rules for the period of Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) and leave-non.
Eligible salary includes basic pay, dearness allowance (DA), special banking allowance, deputation allowance and training allowance given to faculty in training institutes under the pay matrix. If the average monthly salary is ₹7,000, then the 60 days bonus will be around ₹13,816. The final amount will be rounded off to the nearest rupee.
How much bonus will GDS get?
Bonus of Gramin Dak Sevaks will be calculated on the basis of average monthly Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) and DA received thereon.
Formula: (Average monthly TRCA and eligible DA × Bonus days) ÷ 30.4
For GDS who do duty throughout the year, the total amount of eligible TRCA and DA from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 will be divided by 12. In this also, the maximum monthly amount will be considered to be ₹ 7,000. GDS who started the job between the years, who were removed from duty or who left the job, will get bonus according to the period of work as per the rules.
What are the rules for casual workers?
Full-time casual workers will have to complete at least three years of continuous service by March 31, 2026 to receive the bonus. With this, it is necessary to work for at least 240 days every year for 8 hours a day. In offices that work for five days, the condition of working for 206 days every year will be applicable. The bonus calculation for these workers will be based on the fixed monthly wage of ₹ 1,200.
Maximum Bonus = ₹1,200 × Bonus Days ÷ 30.4
After this, the daily bonus rate will be calculated by dividing the maximum bonus of the year by 365. This rate will be multiplied by the days worked between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026. If the actual wages in any month are less than ₹1,200, then that lesser amount will be considered in calculating the bonus.
What will happen if you leave the job or are suspended?
In case of those who were suspended during the financial year or on whom Dice-non was applicable, the rules of the relevant orders of 1981 and 1988 of the Postal Department will be applicable. Regular employees who resign, retire, leave or go on deputation between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026 will also be eligible to receive bonus under the applicable rules.
When will I get the bonus money?
The Postal Department has approved the bonus for the financial year 2025-26. Its expenditure will be met from the approved budget for the financial year 2026-27. This amount will be recorded under the head ‘Rewards’ under the salary and allowances account of the concerned employees. However, no fixed date for bonus payment has been mentioned in this order.
