Government employees across the country are waiting for the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. The Commission is currently holding meetings with stakeholders in different cities of the country and taking suggestions from employee-pensioner organizations on issues like salary, pension, allowances. The 8th Pay Commission will be applicable along with the Center in many union states of the country. The Assam government has said that it will be the first among the states to implement the 8th Pay Commission. At present, central employees are waiting for the second DA hike of this year. Meanwhile, before Dussehra, good news has come from North-East India. Tripura government has approved 3 percent increase in DA i.e. dearness allowance for government employees. The same increase in DR i.e. dearness relief will also be applicable for pensioners. The government has also increased HRA i.e. house rent allowance by 2 percent. Let us know the complete news in detail.

DA-DR increased to 44 percent, implemented from this month

Tripura government announced increase in DA-DR for the employees-pensioners of the state in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, October 6. Chief Minister Manik Saha and Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy gave information about this. After this latest increase, dearness allowance of Tripura government employees will increase to 44 percent of the basic salary. Similarly, DR for pensioners will also increase to 44%. CM Manik Saha said that the decision to increase DA and DR will put an additional burden of Rs 300 crore every year on the state government. He said that the increased DA and DR will be applicable from October 1, 2026. This means that the salary and pension for October will increase.

House rent allowance was also increased by this much

Along with increasing DA, the state government has also taken a big decision on House Rent Allowance (HRA) in the cabinet meeting. HRA has been increased by 2 percent. Where earlier the employees used to get HRA of 8 percent of the basic pay, now they will get 10 percent of the basic pay. That means an employee whose basic pay is Rs 30,000 will now get Rs 3,000 as HRA. Till now he was getting Rs 2,400.

The government has also increased the maximum limit of HRA from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. Earlier, due to the implementation of the maximum limit of Rs 3,000, even the highly paid employees used to get a maximum of Rs 3,000 only. Now if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 70 thousand, then he will get Rs 7,000 as HRA at the rate of 10 percent.

Will Tripura employees also get the benefit of 8th Pay Commission?

7th Pay Commission is in force in Tripura from the year 2018. However, Tripura is still far behind the Center in the matter of dearness allowance. DA of central government employees is currently 60 percent, which is being discussed to be increased to 63 percent soon. In comparison, DA in Tripura has just reached 44 percent. According to Chief Minister Manik Saha, efforts are being made to reduce this gap between the Center and the state. On the question of implementing the 8th Pay Commission in the state, it was told that the Center has started the process of 8th Pay Commission and the state government is also looking into the matter. Chief Minister Manik Saha said that government employees are an important part of the state government and the government is considering every important issue for them.
